"Peso Ancestral" de Alfonsina Storni

                                   "Peso Ancestral"- Alfonsina Storni

Tú me dijiste: no lloró mi padre;
tú me dijiste: no lloró mi abuelo;
no han llorado los hombres de mi raza,
eran de acero.

Así diciendo te brotó una lágrima
y me cayó en la boca... más veneno.
Yo no he bebido nunca en otro vaso
así pequeño.

Débil mujer, pobre mujer que entiende
dolor de siglos conocí al beberlo:
¡Oh, el alma mía soportar no puede
todo su peso!

  8. I could be wrong, but I believe the photo in the bottom left corner is really Julia de Burgos and not Alfonsina Storni.

  9. The photo is an artistic representation of Alfonsina. I was the one who helped with the photo shoot. Its upsetting that people don't see the importance of copyright when a person is spending the time and money to create art for the public to enjoy and get something out of. A fellow Latina created this piece and the least this blogger can do is indicate the source of which they obtain the image from. It does matter. Doing the right thing matters. In this case if a person wants to share they should make note where the art came from. This is not from the 1920s where statutes of limits allows for free possession. Have pride in Alfonsina and her art work and writing in the same way for this Latina artist who created this image for everyone to view here.
